Job Description

The University of the Witwatersrand is seeking a Researcher for a 24-month grant-funded contract focused on climate change and inequality. Candidates should have a Master's degree in economic development or a related field, with research experience in climate finance and policy engagement. The position requires excellent research skills and the ability to work independently. The role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
REQUIREMENTS

Research experience in climate change and climate finance, and an interest in the nexus between climate change and care;

At least a Master’s degree in economic development, or a similar discipline, is required for this appointment;

A proven track record of engaging in policy spaces particularly in South Africa and across the global South;

Demonstrable experience designing, implementing and managing research projects;

Excellent research skills with proven ability to produce accredited publications;

Very motivated and able to work with limited supervision.


This is an academic position in a small but highly-motivated research centre, based in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management. It has an attractive remuneration package and conditions of service. This 24-month grant-funded post may be extended depending on available funding.
