Job Description

The University of Wyoming is seeking a Research Scientist for Environmental Projects in Laramie, WY. This 18-month position requires the candidate to be in or near Laramie for most of the time. Responsibilities include conducting applied research to inform policy and management, and collaborating with various partners. A Master's degree in a relevant field and three years of experience are required.

Our institute is housed within the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, which values interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving.

About the Position
This 18-month position will begin as soon as possible and may be renewed annually pending additional funding. The successful candidate will be required to be in or within commuting distance to Laramie, Wyoming, for a majority of the appointment.

Responsibilities
• Engage in applied research that directly informs policy and management decisions.
• Support the collaborative mission of the Ruckelshaus Institute, contributing to real-world outcomes for complex environmental challenges.
• Build collaborative relationships with a range of partners, particularly Tribes and natural resource agencies.

Skills and Qualifications* Master's degree in natural resources, environmental policy, collaborative governance, or related field, plus three years of experience relevant to the position.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborative problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
