Research Scientist - Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW)

Varaha is seeking a Research Scientist for Enhanced Rock Weathering in Gurugram, India. The role involves conducting research, analyzing data, and developing the Soil Model for Enhanced Weathering in collaboration with Prof. Matteo Bertagni. Candidates should have a PhD in relevant fields, experience in modeling, and strong analytical skills. The position offers a key role in a climate tech startup with opportunities for professional development.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis on ERW. Analyze scientific data to enhance understanding and guide the decision-making process for projects.
• Contribute to developing the Soil Model for Enhanced Weathering (SMEW) in collaboration with Prof. Matteo Bertagni (Politecnico di Torino).
• Collaborate on strategy development for implementing ERW solutions across diverse landscapes.
• Support business teams in creating presentations, reports, and frameworks for client pitches and strategic discussions.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to align science-based insights with practical implementation.

Qualifications
• Research experience in modeling, especially within the context of environmental or climate science. Geochemistry background would be preferred.
• Knowledge of python.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate scientific research into actionable business strategies.
• Demonstrated interest in carbon capture and climate-related research (e.g., past projects, competitions, or work experience).
• PhD in geochemistry, environmental science, climate science
• Sincerity and dedication towards achieving meaningful outcomes in the climate space.
• High ownership, able to own relationships with external contractors
