Job Description

Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Assistant/Associate for its experimental neuroscience team at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine in Singapore. The role involves conducting high-quality research on brain function, collaborating with team members, and contributing to publications and presentations. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological/biomedical sciences, at least one year of wet-lab research experience, and strong communication skills.
We cordially invite applications to join our experimental neuroscience team at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a part of Nanyang Technological University. Our team’s mission is to understand how the brain works in both normal and diseased states. We are particularly interested in neurodevelopment, what happens when neurodevelopment goes wrong and how altered brain functions can be rescued. We adopt an interdisciplinary and multi-level approach, using a large palette of cutting-edge techniques, ranging from working with in vivo mouse models, to optical imaging of brain activity, to cellular and molecular profiling. Our work is both fundamental and translational, and we aim to both advance fundamental understanding of brain functions as well as transforming new fundamental research findings into benefits for clinical application and the broader public. The successful candidate will join our team to perform high-quality cutting-edge research in experimental neuroscience, aligning with the overarching research strategy of the school. We are looking for a motivated research assistant/associate to join our interdisciplinary team. As the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of the brain. You will carry out independent research work, collaborate with other both within the team and beyond, and communicate our findings to the scientific community in a professional manner through academic meetings and publications. You will be exposed to cutting-edge neuroscience approaches, and be a part of our collaborative and multi-disciplined team. Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute experiments towards the research objectives of the team Document and maintain accurate and timely records of all work conducted Data analysis and reporting Contribute to formulating hypothesis, grant writing, publications in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at conferences, seminars, and meetings Participate in weekly lab meetings Provide research support to other team members as required Contribute to laboratory maintenance, purchasing, and safety duties Contribute mentoring to more junior members of the team where required Contribute to an open, transparent and collegial team culture, collaborate both within the team as well as with external collaborators Job Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological/biomedical sciences or related field (including veterinary sciences) At least one year research experience in a wet-lab environment Good written and oral communication skills Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team Meticulous, with attention to details Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Prior research experience in neuroscience preferred RCULA certification preferred Prior research experience with bioinformatics is advantageous Hiring Institution: LKC A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and Graduate colleges.
