Job Description

Loyola Marymount University is hiring a Research Assistant I for the Psychology Applied Research Center in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves supporting community partnered research, data collection, management, and analysis, supervising student workers, and assisting senior researchers with presentations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, research experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in relevant software. The position is not remote.
The Psychology Applied Research Center (PARC) in the Department of Psychological Sciences at LMU is seeking a research assistant (RA1) to support community partnered research project, such as Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's People, Parks, and Power (P3) national grantmaking initiative focused on park and green space equity. The RA will work under the supervision of senior team members Drs. Grills, Villanueva, Terry, and Ramirez.

Position Specific Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
• Assist with the collection, entry, and cleaning of quantitative and/or qualitative data, and conducts basic data analysis or thematic coding.
• Assists with managing quantitative or qualitative data (including quality control), and develops and maintains electronic codebooks of all databases.
• Supervises student workers on research tasks (e.g., accessing data storage systems, using lab software, completing data entry or transcription tasks)
• Transcribes audio and video data to translate into quantitative metrics.
• Assist senior researchers with creating sophisticated PowerPoint or CANVA presentations, synthesize literature and assist with development of instruments/measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
• Typically a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology or Political Science or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of methods used in the lab as well as regulation/policy changes.
• Previous psychological or educational research work experience in an academic or other research setting.
• Previous research experience and some experience with quantitative or qualitative research skills, including knowledge of statistics.
• Strong organizational skills and a track record of working collaboratively with others in professional or extracurricular settings.
• Ability to be highly organized to facilitate record-keeping, data management, managing multiple responsibilities and collaboration with student research assistants. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• High intrinsic motivation and excellent self-management. Ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.
• Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral).
• Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of SPSS, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and some experience with Qualtrics and/or CANVA .

Salary range
$21.68 - $26.01 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
