Join Our Team at the Asian School of the Environment (ASE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore The Asian School of the Environment at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in collaboration with the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invite applications for a Research Assistant or Associate (RA) in blue carbon policy, to begin February 2025 or soon thereafter. The position will run until 31st July 2026, subject to performance review. The successful applicant will be hired through NTU, but will be based flexibly and will be part of the NParks Marine Climate Change Science project ‘A Blue Carbon Framework for Singapore’s national climate change policy (BlueCarbonSG)’ . Position Available: Research Assistant in Blue Carbon Policy Key Responsibilities: The Research Assistant (RA) will have knowledge of coastal ecosystem services, social sciences, carbon policy, environmental science, and/or similar coastal environmental issues at the policy-academic interface. They will work closely with a Research Fellow and project staff for the ‘National Carbon Accounting’ Work Package, as well as the PIs to ensure the requirements of the project work plan are met. The RA will be responsible for assisting with social science data collection, collation and analysis of carbon and climate policy data, and assisting with data management. The successful applicant will assist in all aspects of the work package. This will additionally include conducting literature reviews of relevant articles and information, managing and analyzing ecological and socioeconomic datasets related to blue carbon science and policy in Singapore, and conducting field work to collect new data. Job Requirements: Bachelor degree (second upper) in Environmental Science, Geography, Social Sciences or other related fields Excellent oral and written communication skills Highly organized and proactive Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Positive working attitude, both in a team and independently As the position requires stakeholder engagement in English, candidate must be fluent in English Familiar with data analysis software (e.g., R, Matlab, SPSS, Primer or Python) Experience with data analysis techniques (e.g., ANOVA, PCA, Regression, MDNS) Experience with qualitative methods a bonus (e.g., observations, interviews, etc.) and analysis (e.g., thematic coding, etc.) Excellent data management and analysis skills a bonus ASE seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity.
