The Role: The Fermentation Technician will be a key player on the Research and Development team at Meati. You will be responsible for a significant role in the fermentation of our innovative, sustainable, and nutritious fermented mushroom root products as we prepare to launch our products nationally in September.

Responsibilities:
• Perform fermenter set-up, operation and cleaning, culture inoculation, harvesting and downstream processing,
• Perform relevant measurements and assays
• Run shake flask experiments for medium optimization.
• Prepare biological media, stock solutions, and buffers according to SOP's
• Maintaining experimental records, SOP’s, and reports
• Collect data and communicate process metrics; utilize metrics to recommend improvements
• Maintain the inventory of consumables and order as required
• Troubleshoot issues in real-time. Notify supervisor and coordinate with additional personnel as needed.

Job Requirements/Qualifications
• A high school diploma with relevant experience required or associate or bachelor's degree in a technical or science field desired.
• Experience in a microbiological or wet chemistry laboratory highly preferred.
• Understanding of fermentation, a plus, but not required.
• Attention to detail/record keeping
• Availability to occasionally work nights and weekends.

Compensation:

$24.00- $28.50 per hour, plus shift differential, which is just one aspect of our total compensation package. In addition to the hourly rate, this position is eligible for a potential quarterly bonus and equity! Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
