About the position

Third Way's Climate and Energy Program (CEP) is seeking a Research and Content Advisor who possesses an advanced understanding of federal climate and clean energy policy. This role requires a deep comprehension of the political landscape and public opinion surrounding clean energy and climate change, as well as the ability to frame and contextualize climate and clean energy policy effectively. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of writing clearly on complex topics for a non-expert audience. Additionally, the candidate should be comfortable conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses of public opinion surveys, including original interpretation and presentation of climate and clean energy data. A graduate degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, coupled with exceptionally relevant work experience, is essential for this position. The Climate and Energy Program is a dynamic team dedicated to advancing federal climate and clean energy policies and technologies that aim to put the U.S. on the fastest and fairest path to achieving net-zero emissions by mid-century. This includes initiatives such as a federal clean electricity standard, the promotion of existing and advanced nuclear technologies, carbon management or CCUS, electric vehicles, and other forms of zero-emission transportation. As a Research and Content Advisor, you will play a crucial role in managing in-depth, original-source research and analysis, collaborating with the Third Way Politics team and external consultants to elucidate the significance and impact of federal actions on climate change. You will also analyze external public opinion research and draft surveys to gauge public sentiment on climate issues, ensuring that the Climate Program's messaging is effectively communicated through high-impact content.

Responsibilities
• Manage in-depth, original-source research and qualitative and quantitative analysis in coordination with the Third Way Politics team and outside consultants.

• Analyze external public opinion research and draft public opinion research surveys for the Third Way Climate Program.

• Draft original high-impact content that conveys the Climate Program's messaging and political perspective on the national climate and clean energy debate.

• Edit original reports, memos, and op-eds by Climate Program colleagues to ensure they incorporate the messaging of the Climate Program.

• Work with other members of Third Way's climate and energy, communications, and outreach teams to provide content, digital, and administrative support for public and virtual events.

Requirements
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications or a related field.

• At least one year of experience in communications and/or public opinion research or a relevant field.

• Strong writing skills to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively.

• Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of public opinion surveys.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
