Renewables Data Analytics Intern

WEC Energy Group is seeking a Renewables Intern starting May 2025. This position can be located within a reasonable drive to any of our WEC Energy Group locations in WI, IL, IA, SD, NE, and KS, depending on experience. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office. The hourly rate for this position is $21.40 with paid company holidays. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2025 with the potential to work part-time during the fall.

Job Summary

We employ students for summer and year-round opportunities to help design creative cost effective systems and equipment that keep the energy flowing to our customers in a safe and reliable manner. WEC Energy Group offers a variety of engineering opportunities for students seeking hands-on experience that are currently enrolled in a four-year degree program. Below is an overview of functional areas where we typically have students. Students work with experienced members of these functional teams.

Job Responsibilities

+ Some or all of the below based on the candidate’s background/skills:

+ Assist with validation, cleansing, and organization of data in Amazon Web Services

+ Perform predictive analytics, data engineering, and/or cloud analytics for renewable energy assets

+ Review operational data to assess the performance and reliability of wind and solar assets.

+ Conduct ad hoc investigations of emergent wind and solar equipment issues.

+ Alternate between remote and office work as needed (hybrid setting)

+ Travel to generation sites in remote locations in WI, MI, MN, IA, IL, or IN

Minimum Qualifications

+ High School Diploma, GED, or HSED

+ Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Data Analytics, Engineering or related degree with a graduation date after June 2025.

+ Minimum GPA of 2.8

+ Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working in a hybrid setting

+ Experience with SQL, Python, R, etc

+ Experience writing code, programs, and/or algorithms

+ Experience with data mining, analysis, engineering, and/or visualization
