East Kentucky Power Cooperative is seeking a Renewable Energy Technician in Butler, KY. The role involves maintaining and repairing landfill gas engines, solar fields, and related equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring operations, performing maintenance, conducting repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. Key Roles
This position is responsible for performing all duties necessary to maintain and repair landfill gas engine/generators and solar fields, plant related equipment, facility, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
Renewable Energy Technician
Monitors, operates, and controls landfill gas engine/gensets and auxiliary equipment, and takes appropriate action to maintain normal equipment and system operation.
Maintains and performs required maintenance of landfill gas engines/generator sets, switchgear, motor control centers, fuel skid, and related equipment.


Maintains and performs required maintenance of solar arrays, combiner boxes and controls, recombiner boxes, inverters, cabling, structures, panels, and supporting equipment.


Performs major repairs and overhaul of equipment, and provides similar support at other landfill locations as needed.


Collects, reports, and maintains data related to Title V Air Permit.


Installs, calibrates, and tests instruments (e.g., microprocessors, gas chromatograph, pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters, air monitoring equipment, data recorders, and alarm systems).


Ensures compliance with lockout/tagout and all other safety procedures.


Responds to plant fault alarms, shutdowns, trips, and outages on a 24/7 basis to restore facility and equipment to normal operations.


Performs repairs on electronic components and sub-assemblies.


Performs setup, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.


Documents test and repair results in EKPC CMMS.


Responsible for managing the plant budget, staying within budget limits, and ordering maintenance materials and supplies.


May act as the technical interface with other departments.


Conducts plant tours.


Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Key Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional specialized technical courses or training in plant equipment, maintenance, and operational related fields preferred.
Experience:
Four (4) years of related experience. Experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gas or diesel engines preferred. Previous experience in industrial maintenance program desirable. Strong mechanical and electrical understanding preferred.
Experience with test equipment and instrumentation required.


Knowledge of solar field operation, controls, and components.


Skills and Abilities:
Understands and follows¿all¿safety requirements.
Ability to perform advanced electro/mechanical assembly tasks.


Knowledge of software and firmware, electrical circuits, and interrelated systems and testing. Component identification and the ability to read technical assembly documentation and schematics required.
