Suna Solutions is hiring a Renewable Energy Technician 3 in Western Nebraska. The role involves advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on renewable energy systems, including PV and energy storage. Job Summary


The Renewable Energy Technician 3 performs advanced field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on renewable energy generation systems. This role includes system installation, commissioning, maintenance, and performance evaluation of renewable energy assets such as PV systems and energy storage systems.


The technician works independently, supports system upgrades and troubleshooting, and may lead routine maintenance tasks while mentoring junior technicians.


Key Responsibilities


Maintenance and Troubleshooting (70%)



Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on utility-scale renewable energy assets and energy storage systems.
Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform live electrical work following industry safety standards.
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on high-voltage systems, substations, and distribution systems.
Recommission renewable energy assets including insulation testing, IV curve testing, thermal imaging, torque testing, and battery performance testing.
Collaborate with engineering teams on system upgrades, retrofits, and performance improvements.

Team Support and Training (10%)



Train and oversee Technician 1 and Technician 2 staff.
Support team development and verify technician competency.

Safety and Compliance (10%)



Conduct site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Administrative and On-Call Support (10%)



Maintain service reports, maintenance logs, and inventory documentation.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to monitor system performance and address equipment faults.

Qualifications


Education and Experience



High School Diploma or equivalent required.
4–5 years of experience in renewable energy or a related technical field.

Required Certifications



OSHA 10 certification or equivalent.
Global Wind Organization (GWO) certifications including Basic Safety Training, Basic Technical Training, Control of Hazardous Energies, and Slinger & Signaler.
NFPA 70E / NFPA 70B certification or equivalent.

Skills and Knowledge



Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in renewable energy assets.
Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA regulations.
Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and technical documentation.
Experience with SCADA systems, SAP, and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience using diagnostic equipment including multimeters, IV curve tracers, megohmmeters, and infrared cameras.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.

Physical and Working Conditions



Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work for extended periods in field environments.
Comfortable working at heights up to 300 feet and in confined spaces.
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Standard schedule of 40 hours per week with potential overtime and on-call duties.

PAY TRANSPARENCY POLICY STATEMENT


Compensation for roles at Suna Solutions varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific client, office or remote location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, Suna Solutions provides a reasonable pay scale to include the hourly or salary range that Suna Solutions reasonably expects to pay for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York City or Washington.
