Renewable Energy Technician

Consumers Energy is seeking a Renewable Energy Technician for their Grayling, MI location. The role involves operating and maintaining industrial machinery at a biomass-fueled power plant, ensuring efficiency and safety. Candidates should have experience in power plant operations and control room experience, along with a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience. This is a full-time position.
The Grayling Generating Station is a 38 MW biomass-fueled renewable energy power plant that produces electricity. The fuel consists primarily of bark and sawdust from local lumber mills and the non-marketable biomass from lumbering operations.

The power produced supports the health of the forests, mitigates greenhouse gases (is carbon neutral), conserves landfill space and supports the electric grid in northern Michigan.

Plant operators under general supervision are responsible for the operation of industrial machinery and equipment. They monitor, control, and maintain these systems to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.

This role involves operating assigned control systems as directed, maintaining assigned control systems to ensure proper operations, performing routine equipment maintenance, safety checks, inspections, and adjustments as required.

The successful candidate will have experience with power plant operations, previous control room experience, and/or equivalent experience. A high school diploma or equivalent with two or more years of applicable experience is also required.
