Job Description

FirstLight Power is seeking a part-time Renewable Energy Conservationist for a seasonal role in Turners Falls, MA, from April 30 to June 8, 2025. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, maintaining public areas, conducting educational programs, and presenting information on fish species. Candidates should have a background in biology or education, strong public speaking skills, and the ability to work weekends and holidays. Pay is $20/hour.

Position Overview
This seasonal position is part-time and temporary from April 30-June 08, 2025, with a schedule of Wednesday-Sunday from 8:45 am-5:15 pm plus Monday, May 26th, Memorial Day. The Fishway Guide will greet visitors, maintain fishway public areas, conduct school programs, and present educational information to the public.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for renewable energy and combating climate change. Experience in fisheries biology, natural sciences, or education is highly preferred. Strong public speaking and customer relations skills are required, as well as prior experience working with large groups in a busy environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to meet highest attendance requirements and work weekends and holidays is necessary.

Key Responsibilities
• Greet visitors and provide information about the fishway.
• Maintain the fishway public areas, including cleaning and setting up daily duties.
• Conduct school programs on anadromous fish and the Connecticut River restoration program.
• Present educational information to the public and identify and present the natural history of anadromous fish utilizing the fishway.
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Benefits and Qualifications
• Pay rate: $20/hour.
• Bachelor's degree in biological or environmental science or education is preferred.
• Experience in fisheries biology, natural sciences, or education is highly preferred.
• Strong public speaking and customer relations skills are required.
• Prior experience working with large groups in a busy environment is preferred.
