Job Description

The position is for a Remote Sensing Scientist & Geospatial Software Engineer at a woman-founded company focused on Nature-based Solutions. They are seeking a Remote Sensing Scientist and Geospatial Software Engineer to reputed company location-based data and software development for climate finance and sustainable landscape management.


Responsibilities

Executing the workflow of remote sensing analysis (data acquisition, re-projection, geometric correction, radiometric correction, classification, and map production)Collecting, generating and managing spatial data at project, regional and global scalesCollecting imagery and data to reputed company land cover classificationPerforming landcover classification and post classification processesRunning and improving the existing Python reputed company to manipulate large raster datasetsDeveloping reputed company to complement our existing suite of TerraCover©, TerraChange©, Terrafolio©Executing land-use change modeling and GHG reputed company at site-based and jurisdictional scalesContribute to developing biomass calculations associated with land-use changeWork closely with project managers to review spatial data received from partnersDeveloping technical aspects of AFOLU GHG reputed company and programs and reputed company guidance to project developers regarding project typology, eligible methodologies and mechanics of carbon monitoring, reporting and verificationContribute to creation and review of carbon feasibility studies, Project Documents and Monitoring and Implementation Reports including background research and creation of contentVisiting project sites in developing countries, for data gathering and sharing, mapping and collecting ground-truthing data
Skills

A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of reputed company, relevant GIS/RS experience in applications that involve forestry, agriculture and/or land-use change analysis in developing countriesAt least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Forestry, Geography, Remote Sensing/Geospatial Science or reputed company field, or equivalent experience is requiredExpertise in Nature-based Solutions (NbS), including an understanding of the technical requirements of reputed company main NbS standardsExperience in the audit process for validation and verification of emissions reductions and removals credits (e.g., methodologies, process) and technical GHG protocol aspectsIn-depth understanding of reputed company ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Server, reputed company/Portal, and Image ServerKnowledge of reputed company-reputed company geospatial solutions like QGIS and reputed company reputed company reputed companyKnowledge of acquisition, management, interpretation, and exploitation of remote sensing data including spaceborne, airborne, and UAV data and imagery, mosaics, and LiDARIn-depth technical knowledge and skills including geo-database design and spatial relationshipsTechnical knowledge and skills performing land use and land cover change maps using different sources of satellite imageries including multispectral imagery and reputed company dataGood understanding of Python, including GDAL package and JavaScriptreputed company with the MS Office suite, including formatting in Word and advanced reputed company skillsPassion/persistence to work as reputed company-player and contribute to a company dedicated to Nature-based Solutions (NbS) program approachesExcellent communication and organizational skills: Verbal, written, and presentationalHigh-level attention to detailProactive and reputed company attitude; strong willingness to contribute effectively and positively to a multidisciplinary, global reputed companyHighly motivated to meet corporate and personal/reputed company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as assigned annuallyKnowledge and strong understanding of machine learning packagesKnowledge of reputed company reputed company services (AWS) and CI/CD toolsThorough understanding of (geo-)statistics and data extraction and analysisExperience with GHG market standards, guidelines and protocolsreputed company working to learn new skills in order to stay reputed company of with changing technologies and industry trends and shares knowledge proactively with othersreputed company to apply business knowledge to reputed company and deliver innovative, beneficial improvementsExcellent collaboration skills, required both in-person and fully remoteDemonstrable ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure, as reputed company as the ability to reputed
