Our client, a leading agricultural technology firm focused on sustainable farming practices, is seeking an experienced Remote Agronomist Consultant to provide expert advice and support to farmers and agricultural businesses across Canada. This fully remote position allows you to utilize your deep knowledge of soil science, crop management, and sustainable agriculture to help clients optimize their yields, improve soil health, and implement environmentally sound farming techniques. You will be a key advisor, helping to shape the future of farming through innovation and data-driven insights.
The Agronomist Consultant will be responsible for analyzing soil samples, crop health reports, and local environmental data to develop customized farm management plans. This includes providing recommendations on crop selection, planting strategies, fertilization programs, pest and disease management, and water usage. You will leverage remote sensing data, weather patterns, and soil analysis tools to offer precise and timely advice. The role involves educating clients on best practices for sustainable agriculture, including cover cropping, reduced tillage, and integrated pest management. Building strong relationships with clients through virtual consultations, webinars, and detailed written reports is essential.
This position requires a thorough understanding of modern agricultural techniques, as well as traditional farming wisdom. You will stay up-to-date with the latest research in agronomy, plant science, and agricultural technology, and share this knowledge with clients. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into practical, actionable advice. Strong communication and presentation skills are crucial for effectively conveying recommendations and fostering trust with agricultural producers. As this is a remote contractor role, you must be highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing your own schedule and client interactions effectively. Responsibilities:
Provide expert agronomic advice and consultation to farmers and agricultural operations remotely. Analyze soil, crop, and environmental data to develop tailored farm management plans. Recommend crop selection, planting schedules, fertilization, and pest/disease control strategies. Educate clients on sustainable agriculture practices and technologies. Utilize remote sensing, weather data, and soil analysis tools to inform recommendations. Build and maintain strong client relationships through virtual communication channels. Stay current with agricultural research, industry trends, and relevant technologies. Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining agronomic recommendations. Assist clients in implementing and monitoring best practices for improved yield and soil health. Contribute to the development of best-in-class agricultural solutions and knowledge base. Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomy, crop consulting, or agricultural extension. In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, pest management, and sustainable farming practices. Experience with agricultural data analysis tools, GIS, and remote sensing technology is highly desirable. Strong understanding of Canadian agricultural systems and regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to conduct virtual consultations and provide clear, actionable advice. Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple clients and projects remotely. Professional Agrologist (P.Ag) designation is an asset.
