Regional Sustainability Manager

Duties and responsibilities

The Regional Sustainability Manager will oversee the implementation and reporting of sustainability initiatives & project delivery aligned to client's sustainability strategies and targets. This role is based in Bengaluru, India.

Reporting to the JLL-Client Sustainability Leadership, responsibilities include:
• Acting as the single point of execution and escalation, serving as the regional contact for Regional Sustainability Manager Leads to effectively implement sustainability initiatives.
• Drive data reporting timeliness and accuracy by coordinating the site team's data entry of all required Energy, Waste, Water, and Paper data by client specified required dates and manage the data quality program, including monthly review of data, variance analysis, and resolution of data issues.
• Measure the impact of sustainability initiatives based on sustainability ladder and respecting nature guidelines, publish quarterly reports of achievements, and deliver an annual sustainability report on the sustainability program as administered across the client's portfolio and various teams in APAC region to designated client's representatives, highlighting major accomplishments throughout the year.
• Development and delivery of training and educational materials based on JLLs best practice knowledge to uplift the sustainability awareness and culture within the APAC region.
• Support the execution of approved decarbonisation actions with onsite teams and perform a site priority (identified six sites) on the client's portfolio to plan the ECM and Carbon Reduction Initiatives.
• If applicable, update the decarbonisation forecast in Carbon Pathfinder quarterly, incorporating the latest committed portfolio planned changes, consumption/emissions reduction activities, and renewable energy initiatives, to visualise and assess whether the client is on track to achieve their decarbonisation and energy consumption reduction goals at the nominated properties.
• Track collection of GHG emissions data for reporting purposes and coordinating data with the assistance of designated eco-leads within the Facilities Management (FM) team.
• Collaborate with client's sustainability team to provide program support aligned with CRREM strategies and client's sustainability goals and assist stakeholders to coordinate and activate sustainability campaigns and initiatives.
• Cooperate with client's requests related to internal and external assessments for green building certification. For example, applicable documentation or respond to information requests required pursuant to audit requests, in collaboration and at the direction of the client's sustainability team, as well as assist in carrying out any remediation obligations that result from the audits.
• Support the client's business operational development efforts such as proposal development, identifying target, and developing solution-based service delivery strategies.

Performance objectives
• Enhance collaboration between client and property vendors to improve energy and sustainability solutions at the operational and asset level.
• Reliable and timely agreed deliverables and associated reports.
• Provide programmatic support, implement program results, meet program needs and energy and environmental sustainability project supports for lower priority sites.

Program Deliverables
• Support the client's Energy and Decarbonisation Program goals pertaining to Scope 1 and 2 Emissions based on the CRREM and Sustainability Ladder frameworks.
• Roadmap and target energy efficiency measures related to building systems under JLL Operations and Management.
• Sustainability Action Plan with short / intermediate / long term goals alignment with client's sustainability goals to integrate energy efficiency and decarbonisation objectives.
• Recommended solutions to the client to decrease energy consumption and align with carbon reduction glidepath.
• A business case for projects requiring longer term planning/investment.
• Monitor variance and process in environmental performance, investigating variances, identifying, and implementing solutions at in scope sites.
• Advise on utility consumption variance reporting and tracking with a list of high priority sites and provide the variance report based on those sites.
• Energy conservation measures and environmental management program for the sites under APAC region to identify, justify, and help implement no/low cost ECMs at individual sites and facilitate scaling of ECMs across the portfolio. Low-cost initiatives are defined as initiatives that cost can be funded by the sites normal operating budgets and schedules.

Employee Specifics
• University qualified in Engineering (Electrical/Industrial), Science, or other related field, with a minimum 8 years industry experience, demonstrated ability to lead large programmes in a multisite and country operations; working in sustainability program in the built environment is desirable.
• Experience reviewing and refining technical and commercial aspects of sustainability initiatives in the built environment, preferably in the context of Facilities Management and Construction.
• Superior communication and execution skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels and managing complex client relationships, matrix teams and third-party vendors.
• Strong project/program planning and management skills and an ability to deliver to outcomes, prioritise and meet deadlines in high pressure environments with competing priorities.
• Experience improving systems and processes to deliver best practice sustainability performance and use of energy management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.
• Positioning yourself as a sustainable real estate thought leader, with a strong ability to think strategically and engage with a range of stakeholders.
