Job Description

Aegis Renewable Energy, LLC is seeking a Regional Solar O&M Technician based in Hartford, CT. This full-time position involves conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on commercial solar systems across multiple states, requiring travel and overnight stays. Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, and at least four years of solar industry experience. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and technical proficiency.
Classification: This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position.

Department and Reporting structure: Operations and Maintenance and EPC team reporting to the O&M Manager and VP of Operations

Position Summary

The Commercial Solar O&M Technician is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and performance optimization of our customers Commercial and Industrial rooftop, ground mount and carport solar electric and storage systems. Working across customer sites, this role will troubleshoot and identify technical errors, determine solutions and conduct repairs to systems to ensure systems are operating at peak efficiency in a timely manner. This role will require travel within a multi state region with overnight stays from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Support the O&M team with scheduled annual preventative maintenance inspections via Aegis’s and/or our Customer’s assigned scope of work and process. (ie. Thermal imaging, IV Curve Tracing, torque testing, electrical equipment cleaning, string level inspections, visual inspections, relay diagnostics,

• Conduct Corrective Maintenance visits to sites (ie. inverter fault diagnostics, array faults, communication errors, firmware updates, etc.)

• Complete diagnostic and repair reports in Aegis’ or Customer Communication Portals • Support solar project closeout, including but not limited to testing, commissioning and punch list completion.

• Assist with product/equipment vendor communications and project material procurement and returns.

• Maintain PPE compliance and required safety training and certifications

Experience & Education

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required

• OSHA-30 and NFPA-70E certification

• Minimum 4 years experience in the solar industry conducting PV Installation, system commissioning and/or O&M scopes of work

• Working knowledge of NEC 2000 - 2026 years with focus on Articles 690, 691 and 705

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with standard electrical testing equipment and PV diagnostic tools.. • Demonstrated experience with Inverter troubleshooting (Micro, String and Central inverters) • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. • Prioritization of standard operating procedures, safety, respect, and integrity. • Commitment to providing exceptional customer communication and service. • Valid Drivers License and ability to pass a background test.

Preferred Qualifications

• NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) Certification or PV Commissioning and Maintenance Specialist Certification

• OSHA 30, NFPA-70E and NFPA-70B certifications

• Electrical license (Journey person or master electrician)

• Experience with Rooftop, ground mount (fixed tilt & single axis trackers) and carports. • Familiarity with energy storage systems (BESS) and EV Charging systems. • Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) platforms

Physical Working Conditions

• Ability to work in various environments, including office, warehouse and outdoor settings. • Comfortable working in all weather conditions, locations and at heights.. • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and wo rking in the field for long periods of time.
