Job Description

ADAS is seeking a Regenerative Farming and Soil Health Specialist in Helsby, UK, for a full-time, permanent role. The position involves fieldwork assessing soil health, providing practical advice to landowners on sustainability, and interpreting laboratory results. Candidates should have experience in soils, an agricultural or environmental degree, and be comfortable in agricultural settings. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining home and office work.
The Vacancy

ADAS , a part of RSK Group is looking to recruit a Regenerative Farming Specialist with a competency in soils and in particular soil health. This full time, permanent role offers a mixture of hybrid home and office working , depending on experience.
You should be confident in the field with experience of soil sampling to the appropriate procedures, capable of describing soil physical properties and interpreting the results of laboratory analysis at the reporting stage. Knowledge of soil health and soil biology is essential.

You should be able to provide practical advice to landowners wishing to follow sustainability and regenerative principles. You will need knowledge of the UK’s agricultural systems and the different drivers for change as we strive to assist our clients in their targets of reaching net zero. You must therefore be comfortable working in an agricultural setting where livestock may be present, or alternatively on large scale development sites.

Although not essential a knowledge of relevant grant schemes, legislation, carbon foot printing, agroforestry, species and habitat identification (UKHab) and Biodiversity Net Gain would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities
• Farm visits to assess soil health and provide recommendations for improvement where applicable
• Describing soil physical properties
• Interpreting results of laboratory analysis and report writing
• Provision of advice on reducing greenhouse emissions at farm level
• Soil Resource Assessment and other related projects for clients
• Provision of practical advice to landowners wishing to follow regenerative principles
• Advice on SFI or other agri-environment schemes

Person Specification
• Relevant years practical post graduate experience in the field of soils and/or regenerative farming.
• Agricultural or Environmental Degree.
• Full driving licence and own transport
• Competent user of Microsoft software including Windows, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner in English
• Ability to travel away from home base when required
• Flexibility in the range of work undertaken
