About the position
Under the general supervision of the Recycling & Waste Reduction Coordinator, the Recycling & Waste Reduction Lead will serve as a working lead of the Recycling and Waste Reduction Program. This role involves taking responsibility for the crew in the absence of a supervisor, which includes performing specialized tasks, assigning and monitoring work orders, ensuring their completion, and recording work orders. The Lead will explain tasks to co-workers, assist in their training, maintain time and material records, and help with performance evaluations as requested. The Lead will work closely with Recycling Sorters and the Recycling Specialist to ensure that daily tasks and projects are completed efficiently. This position requires providing leadership at least 30% of the time, ensuring that the team operates effectively and meets its goals. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy, and the salary range for this position can be found through the TCS Non-Academic Titles Search. Responsibilities
• Serve as a working lead of the Recycling and Waste Reduction Program.

• Assume responsibility for the crew in the absence of a supervisor.

• Perform specialized tasks related to recycling and waste reduction.

• Assign and monitor work orders, ensuring their completion and recording.
,
• Explain tasks to co-workers and assist with their training.
,
• Maintain time and material records for work performed.
,
• Assist with performance evaluations as requested.
,
• Work closely with Recycling Sorters and Recycling Specialist to complete daily tasks and projects.
Requirements
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
,
• Two years of experience in semi-skilled building maintenance work, or one year as a Senior Building Maintenance Worker, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proven skillfulness in leadership and problem-solving abilities.
,
• Proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
,
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions when present.
,
• Demonstrates a professional attitude in the work environment.

• Valid CA Driver's License.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in a University and/or Medical Center environment.

• Two years' experience in the Recycling field.

• Ability to diagnose large pieces of equipment (compactors, tippers, electrical carts, etc).
