Sandwell Council is seeking a full-time Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer to enhance community engagement and improve recycling rates. Job Details
We are looking for a proactive Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer to support this transition and drive community engagement. In this role, you will:
• Develop and manage community engagement campaigns to increase recycling rates and minimise waste.
• Lead outreach efforts with residents, community groups, and schools to improve public understanding of recycling practices.
• Design and implement waste education initiatives, ensuring residents are fully informed about changes to waste collection services.
• Manage digital engagement, including the Council’s website and sustainability hub, to provide clear and accessible waste management information.
• Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness, providing data-driven recommendations for ongoing improvement.
• Manage a team of Recycling Support Officers

Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• A HNC in Wastes Management or equivalent.
• Experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental education.
• Proven ability to design and deliver public engagement campaigns.
• Excellent communication skills to engage diverse audiences, from residents to schools and businesses.
• Digital engagement experience, including website content management and sustainability-related communications.
• Strong data analysis skills to measure and report on campaign effectiveness.
The Postholder will require to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check for this post.
