Job Overview:

Have you ever wished you could work for a small, close-knit, growing business? Well now you can. We're Belmont Nursery, a grower of trees, shrubs, & perennials supplying central California and beyond since 1943, and we're looking for a key person to deliver exceptional customer service on the phone and as a cashier in the Contractor Sales Office. You will look up inventory in our software program, enter customer orders, assist with order fulfillment, and take orders for delivery, planting, sod, rental and design services, working closely with the contractor sales office team. We value horticulture or plant knowledge and can guarantee you will increase your knowledge when you bring your passion for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greet customers, answer phones and direct people to the correct department.
• Look up inventory to place orders and assist with order fulfillment working with loaders.
• Respond to voice message, cell phone and email inquiries.
• Order entry for customers, landscapers, and designers ensuring orders are pulled and placed into will call with corresponding paperwork, tape/ties and communicate with shipping for deliveries.
• Maintain paperwork and oversight of reserved plants in Will Call including timely pickups, transfers and special orders, reviewing weekly.
• Oversee and review Special Requests in conjunction with our buyer every week.
• Assist with plant selection and recommendations with guidance from our CCNPros.
• Inventory vegetables daily during spring rush, making copies for all office staff.
• Create and post assignments for maintenance of bathrooms and office tasks as well as update the monthly anniversary and birthday signage in the lobby.
• Provide support in retail as needed and assist during special events.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience cashiering and answering phones.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel (experience with inventory software is a plus).
• Horticulture or plant knowledge is highly valued.
• Spanish speaker preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to lift heavy items up to 25 lbs.

This is entry level work with the opportunity for advancement. This is a seasonal job with the opportunity to grow.
