The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is hiring a seasonal Real Estate Management Coordinator for 24 hours per week in Wheaton-Glenmont, MD. The role involves managing legal and engineering documentation, coordinating real estate processes, and maintaining property records using GIS and document management systems. The position supports the Real Estate Management unit within the Park Planning and Stewardship Division, contributing to the management of a vast park system.
Description
Montgomery Parks is seeking a seasonal (24 hours per week) Real Estate Management Coordinator to support the Real Estate Management unit within the Park Planning and Stewardship Division. This role focuses on managing, tracking, and maintaining legal and engineering documentation critical to protecting property rights across our 37,000-acre park system. The successful candidate will excel at coordinating real estate processes, interpreting complex property records, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping using a variety of tools, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and document management systems.

Examples of Important Duties
• Legal and Property Record Management:
• Research, interpret, and maintain deeds, easements, and other legal documents.
• Track and update property records using spreadsheets, GIS data sets, and other tools.
• Coordinate with Development Review staff to manage original deeds and easements held in escrow, ensuring timely recording in County Land Records.
• Document Analysis and Property Rights Review:
• Analyze deeds, metes and bounds, land surveys, plats, and other property records to ensure clarity on parkland boundaries and property rights.
• Communicate findings effectively to support land acquisitions, easement management, and real estate portfolio decisions.
• GIS and Mapping Coordination:
• Collaborate with GIS staff to update park boundaries, correct mapping discrepancies, and maintain real estate data within the Real Estate Atlas tool.
• Ensure data accuracy by integrating updates and corrections from various sources.
• Archiving and Administrative Support:
• Manage the digitization and archiving of real estate documents in collaboration with GIS, Archives, and other departments.
• Prepare graphics, memos, presentations, and route legal documents for signature.
• Project Tracking and Collaboration:
• Monitor and track multiple real estate projects, coordinating with internal divisions, including Legal, Finance, and Development Review teams.
• Maintain organized workflows and assist in project reporting and documentation
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of real estate processes, title research, legal agreements, and land record documentation.
• Experience interpreting and analyzing land surveys, development plats, and right-of-way plats.
• Proficiency in Excel and GIS to manage real estate data sets and document workflows.
• Exceptional organizational skills to manage digital and hard copy records effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex information clearly.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Planning, GIS, Surveying, Land Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible professional experience, including substantive work related to the duties listed above.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 7 years may be substituted.
Supplemental Information
• This position is seasonal/intermittent and does not provide benefits.
• Salary based on experience.
• A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
Working Conditions
• Primarily works in an office setting with occasional outside exposure.
• Work involves frequent positioning of self to obtain maps, drawings, plans, remaining in a stationary position, moving about inside the office, and communicating with employees.
• Work may require some physical requirements.
• Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Use of multiple technical equipment and software applications may be required.
