Job Description
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is seeking a full-time Marine Ranger for the Jurien Bay Marine Park. Responsibilities include operational activities, facility maintenance, visitor control, compliance patrols, and conservation programs. Candidates should have vessel operation experience and strong interpersonal skills. The position is permanent and based in Jurien Bay, WA, Australia, with a salary range of $61,889 to $75,624 plus allowances.
RNPGA, Grade 1 or 2, $61,889 - $67,435 or $69,333 - $75,624 p.a. plus Coxswain Allowance, 25% No Fixed Hours Loading, plus 11.5% Superannuation
Note: A 5% administrative wage payment in addition to the above base salary is in place until the new agreement is registered.

Job Description
Jurien Bay has earned a place in the hearts of holidaymakers, as well as fishing, diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. Under sunny skies for the majority of the year, this relaxed fishing town is blessed with long sandy beaches, colourful offshore reefs, amazing marine life and a thriving cray fishing industry.
We currently have an opportunity for a Ranger (Marine) - Jurien Bay Marine Park.
Under the immediate direction of the Marine Park Coordinator, you will:
• Carry out programmed operational activities and field logistical support for Jurien Bay Marine Park, and other lands and waters managed by the department, with in the Turquoise Coast District, including maintenance and servicing of facilities, visitor control, commercial operator liaison and the delivery of conservation programs as directed.
• Assist in emergency response, marine fauna management, feral animal and plant control and delivering education and interpretive programs.
• Undertake compliance patrols, maintains and skippers departmental vessels and upkeep of equipment.
• Implement works programs consistent with departmental guidelines, policies and management plans.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
• Ability to participate in (Grade 1) and implement (Grade 2) operational plans and works programs associated visitor management and natural resource management with an emphasis on the marine environment.
• Knowledge (Grade 1) and experience (Grade 2) in the logistics of vessels, and the operation and skippering of vessels requiring a Coxswain Grade 1 (NSCV Near Coastal) or a higher boating qualification; with ability to attain (Grade 1) or hold (Grade 2) such a certificate with documented evidence of experience in working on commercial vessels in survey (via a certified sea-service book) or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal skills with an ability for (Grade 1) or experience in (Grade 2):
• patrol and enforcement activities, ideally in a marine protected area,
• liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups, other government agencies and stakeholders.
• Willing and able to undertake diving activities for the department and be able to pass a commercial dive medical (AS2299.1) annually. Hold an approved Advanced Certification in SCUBA diving and be willing and able to obtain an approved Scientific Diver SCUBA qualification. Hold a Provide First Aid Certificate, and an Advanced Resuscitation Certificate or willing and able to obtain these qualifications.
