Job Description
Princeton Nuenergy is seeking a Quality Environmental Health & Safety (QEHS) Manager for their Chester, SC facility. This role involves developing and implementing quality and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing audits, and overseeing environmental permits. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in a related field, 8+ years of relevant experience, and familiarity with ISO standards. This position is not remote.
Salary:
Princeton NuEnergy ("PNE") is a lithium-ion battery direct recycling and critical materials recovery innovator, founded out of Princeton University. At its core, PNE's patented recycling technology is based on a low-temperature plasma-assisted separation process (LPAS) that does not damage but, rather, reclaims and repairs cathode material from spent lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap at half the cost with significantly lower waste when compared with existing traditional recycling processes.
The Quality Environmental Health & Safety (QEHS) Manager will play a critical role within Princeton NuEnergys newly established and rapidly growing manufacturing team at our Chester, South Carolina facility. The QEHS Manager will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of all Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, programs, procedures, training, work practices, and safety controls. The QEHS Manager will ensure these initiatives are effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
WHAT WILL YOU BE WORKING ON?
• Oversee EHS and compliance requirements for the new facility commissioning
• Develop and implement comprehensive quality and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, while also supporting and aligning with organization and customer requirements
• Lead the certification and maintenance processes for quality standards and systems (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and/or RC14001)
• Develop, implement, and maintain practices, procedures, training programs, and management controls to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, while overseeing the quality management system to foster continuous quality improvement
• Manage and drive the execution of internal audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and occupational health and safety regulations
• Perform quality and safety trends analysis and reports
• Take ownership of all quality systems and safety documentation
• Implement and maintain systems for reporting safety incidents and health-related cases to ensure timely documentation, analysis, and resolution
• Ensure material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible
• Maintain records of hazardous waste discharge and employee exposure, as required
• Manage the site's environmental permit programs, including air and wastewater, to maintain 100% compliance
• Act as the main contact for environmental, safety, and health affairs with federal, state, and local agencies
• Prepare, coordinate, and provide training sessions covering emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
• Work with local management to establish and maintain Emergency Response Plans
• Perform other related duties as assigned
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS SOMEONE WITH
• Bachelors degree in Quality Engineering, Safety, Chemistry, or a related technical field
• Preferably 8+ years of hands-on experience in the chemical or material manufacturing industry
• Quality Engineering/Management background required, preferably Lean Six Sigma certification (e.g. green belt, black belt).
• Experience with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and/or RC14001 systems
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and policies, including OSHA, RCRA, NFPA, and ANSI standards
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry desired
• Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office
• Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, prioritize work, and operate with a sense of urgency
