Job Description
Husk Power Systems is hiring a Quality Control Engineer to ensure the quality of solar minigrid systems in Nigeria. Responsibilities include implementing quality control plans, conducting inspections, performing tests, maintaining documentation, and resolving quality issues. The role requires a degree in electrical engineering or related fields and 3 years of experience in quality control within the energy sector. The position is based in Plateau and Nasarawa, requiring on-site work.

Role Summary
Husk is seeking a Quality Control Engineer for solar minigrid asset health who will be responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of the minigrid systems during the commissioning, handover/takeover exercise between project and operations team, and the operational phases. This includes overseeing the quality control process, conducting inspections, and implementing corrective actions to meet industry standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control:
• Implement quality control plans, procedures, and checklists for minigrid projects.
• Conduct regular inspections and testing on materials, equipment, and installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
• Ensure that the installation of electrical systems, wiring, and equipment adheres to safety regulations and design specifications.
Testing & Validation:
• Perform electrical and mechanical tests on minigrid components, such as solar panels, inverters, batteries, distribution lines and controllers.
• Validate system performance, including energy generation, storage efficiency, load distribution, metering installations and distribution losses under various conditions.
• Document and analyse test results, recommending improvements or corrective actions as necessary.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain detailed records of quality control inspections, testing, and results.
• Generate and submit comprehensive quality reports and ensure all documentation is up to date and complies with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure proper labeling and certification of materials and equipment in the plants
Problem Resolution:
• Investigate and troubleshoot quality issues or failures, providing technical guidance on corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project team and operations team to resolve quality-related problems effectively and promptly.
Required Skills & Attributes
• Bachelor’s degree/ Higher National Diploma in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3 years) in quality control, testing, or documentaion within the energy, renewable energy, or electrical industries.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, renewable energy technologies (solar, battery storage and distribution lines/metering), and minigrid design and operation.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, data analysis, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Location and Travel
• This role is based in Plateau and Nasarawa, Nigeria.
• Will be required to work from rural areas and plant sites.
Salary: Negotiable based on candidates experience
