About the Position:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ascend Analytics as a Junior Software Engineer - Renewable Energy Focus. The successful candidate will have a strong quantitative background, foundational skills in at least one language - React or Python, and a passion for creating software solutions for the energy transition. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in software design and development tasks, write code and develop software applications, test and debug software applications, document software design, code changes, and development processes, conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends, collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and objectives, and communicate project status, progress, and challenges to team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in software design and development tasks
- Write code and develop software applications using programming languages
- Test and debug software applications to ensure quality and functionality
- Document software design, code changes, and development processes
- Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and objectives
- Communicate project status, progress, and challenges to team members and stakeholders

Requirements:

- Strong quantitative background (such as a degree in computer science, economics, physics, engineering, math, or energy systems)
- Strong academic performance (GPA 3.4 or higher)
- Desire and willingness to relocate to Boulder, CO for the semester or summer
- Foundational skills in at least one language - React or Python
- Preference for some programming and statistical academic experience or coursework
- Passion for creating software solutions for the energy transition
- Great teamwork skills
