Job Description

Conductor Power seeks a PV Estimator in Hopkins, MN, to prepare cost estimates for solar projects. The role requires knowledge of construction, solar systems, and project management, along with strong organizational and communication skills. Candidates should have a degree or equivalent experience and at least one year in the solar or energy industry. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan. Travel may be required.
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for solar energy projects. This role requires a keen understanding of construction principles, solar energy systems, and project management.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Proven experience in conceptual estimating for projects.
• Familiarity with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates for conceptual, lump sum, or unit cost proposals.
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills, capable of managing responsibilities for multiple, simultaneous, and complex projects.
• Excellent teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-driven with the ability to stay focused on tasks for extended periods while working independently.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs.

Education/Experience:
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• 1 year of experience as an Estimator in the solar, energy storage, and/or electric power industry.
• Certification in estimating or project management, preferred but not required.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Participate in project pursuit kickoff and strategy meetings.
• Verify accuracy and consistency in various project documents.
• Conduct quantity take-offs, manage trade partner and vendor RFQs, evaluate proposals, and research relevant factors such as tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits.
• Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with project costs and timelines.
• Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
• Ensure all cost estimates comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in regulations that may impact project costs.
• Develop conceptual, budget, and detailed estimates.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding cost-related inquiries.
• Provide clients with detailed explanations of cost estimates and project financials.
• Ensure all cost estimates comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with trade partners and vendors, collect bids, and organize information for proposal comparisons.
• Clearly define scopes for trade partner and vendor proposals.
• Assess constructability requirements and conduct site evaluations through site visits with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel for estimate preparation.
• Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and proposal deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with team members to prepare RFP documents and proposal deliverables.
• Support the creation of proposals and bid submittal documents, including work plans, clarifications, schedules, cash flow projections, and SOV.
• Research and analyze historical project data.
• Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to solar energy and construction.

Travel:
• As requested by Director or Executive team.

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills.
