Squadron Energy is seeking a motivated Project Officer in Newcastle, NSW, to support project development through approvals and financial processes. Key responsibilities include managing GIS data, assisting landowner negotiations, engaging with stakeholders, and producing necessary statutory applications. The Role
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Project Officer to contribute to the development of projects by providing support to Project Managers in taking a project through to approvals, post-approvals and through financial close processes.
Key responsibilities:
• Compilation and management of site data using GIS, including topographic and cadastral data, site constraints, project layouts, environmental data, property schedule, residence matrix and stakeholder management plan.
• Work with members of the project and technical teams to develop layouts throughout the development process.
• Support consultation with landowners, negotiation of landowner agreements, legal dealings, and other correspondence as required.
• Support the engagement and management of external consultants to undertake studies throughout the development process.
• Assist the stakeholder consultation process with local and/or State planning authorities, other regulators, general public, landowners etc.
• Assist in the production of Development Applications, EPBC referrals, and any other statutory applications required for project development.
• Conduct regular site visits to consult with project stakeholders, assist in on-site studies where required and escort clients and contractors around sites.
• Provide continued support to projects during pre-construction, construction and operation as required.
About you
You will have:
• Experience using GIS programs and maintaining complex data systems (requirement).
• Bachelor's degree or greater in relevant studies such as renewable energy, planning, geography, business, environmental science, geospatial science (desirable).
• Experience as a project officer or consultant within the environmental and planning sector.
• Some experience or demonstrated knowledge in State Significant Developments, environmental impact assessments and planning.
• Familiarity with landowner, stakeholder and planning elements of the wind farm development process (desirable).
• Ability to undertake domestic travel to project locations in rural and regional Australia.
• Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
• Computer literacy and strong competence with the Microsoft 365 suite of software.
• A current Australian driver’s licence.
