Job Description

The City of New York is seeking a full-time Environmental Project Manager in Lincoln, NE. The role involves overseeing environmental consultants, managing projects, conducting field visits, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Candidates must have a relevant degree, field experience, and a valid New York State driver's license. NYC residency is required within 90 days. The position is not remote and requires in-person work at the specified location.

Position:
Environmental Project Manager

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support, is seeking an Environmental Project Manager. The successful candidate will oversee environmental consultants and drilling contractors, ensuring technical accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include reviewing design documents, environmental assessments, permits, spill investigations, safety and sampling plans, and remedial action plans. The role involves conducting field visits, managing environmental projects, responding to incidents, and developing mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and city regulations.

Additionally, the manager will review sampling protocols, interpret analytical data, produce technical reports, and present regulatory compliance information.

Authorization to work in the United States is required. NYC DDC does not provide visa sponsor ships. Applicants must meet all qualification requirements at the time of application.

Minimum Qualifications
• Baccalaureate degree in geology, engineering, earth sciences, environmental sciences, or a related field, with 24 semester credits in relevant areas.
• At least one course involving geologic fieldwork or three months of professional geologic field experience.
• A valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in New York State.
Additional Notes
• Employees hired as Geologist - Assignment Level I must complete a 24-month probationary period.
• Experience requirements for higher levels and special positions are detailed, including experience in tunnel and shaft construction.
Preferred Skills

Two years of geotechnical/environmental inspection experience in NYC, safety certifications (OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper, OSHA 10/30), and knowledge of environmental regulations are preferred. Candidates should have strong communication and computer skills, and the ability to perform fieldwork with appropriate safety gear. A valid driver’s license and ability to drive in NYC are required.
