Job Description

Wärtsilä is seeking a Project Manager for Energy Storage in McLean, VA, responsible for leading cross-functional teams on battery storage projects from contract negotiation to warranty. The role involves managing resources, customer contracts, and project execution while ensuring safety and compliance. Candidates should have project management experience, a relevant degree, and a Class A Contractor's license in Georgia and/or California. The position is hybrid with up to 20% travel expected.

The Project Manager is responsible for leading an internal cross functional team on a battery storage project from contract negotiation through warranty beginning. Travel is expected up to 20% of the time. This position reports into the General Manager of Battery Storage in the Americas region. This position is located in Herndon, VA and will be hybrid. Requirements/Desired Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

- Bachelor or Master of Science in engineering (or similar).

- Project Management experience (minimum 3 years).

- Class A Contractor's license in Georgia and/or California required.

- Experience in Renewable Energy and Battery Storage preferred.

- Experience leading large valued >$5M construction projects.

- Leadership and Customer facing experience and skills.

- Good negotiation and presentation skills.

- Cost awareness & effectiveness.

- Excellent teamwork skills.

- Proactive attitude and positive Can-Do mind-set.

- Ability to create and revise MS Project schedules.

- Comfortable multi-tasking and working in a fast paced, changing environment.

Responsibilities
- Manage Energy Storage project assignments according to signed contracts and Wartsila Energy Business Project Management guidelines.

- Act as company lead in Georgia and California with state Contractor License. Keep license current.

- Plan and manage required resources for project execution of the project in co-operation with resource line-managers.

- Manage Energy storage customer contracts and act as customer's first contact point during execution of a project.

- Mentor customer EPC contractor in schedule and product

Comfortable leading project from office as well as supporting team members at construction site as needed.

- Responsible for project safety planning and execution.

- Lead and coach project team members involved in execution of Energy storage projects.

- Lead construction site team members involved in execution of Energy storage projects.

- Prepare, update and report project execution plan, cost budget, project schedule, project receivables and contract completion milestones.

- Manage contract requirements, risks and issues. Develop risk response strategy and plan.

- Lead project engineering, purchasing, logistics and subcontracting activities.

- Participate in customer meetings and negotiations. Establish and maintain excellent customer

Demonstrate leadership by following Wärtsilä Project Management Methodology and Business Directives
- Apply Project Management best practices.

- Support sales in Energy storage project opportunities.

- Focus on continuous improvement.
