William Charles Construction is seeking a Project Manager for High Voltage Construction in Aberdeen, SD. The role involves managing electrical construction projects in the clean energy sector, requiring extensive travel (up to 75% of the time). Overview:
William Charles Construction, part of MasTec Company, is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join our Clean Energy & Infrastructure High Voltage Group. In this role, you will manage substation and transmission line electrical construction projects in the clean energy sector, particularly focused on wind and solar, from the pre-construction phase to project completion. Your leadership will ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and maintained within budget.
This position requires extensive travel, with up to 75% time spent away from home (approximately three weeks or 15 days per month). You will travel by various means, including automobile, commercial airlines, and public transportation, while staying in public accommodations. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided to facilitate your travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the safety team to establish site-specific safety requirements and ensure compliance with programs and policies.
Develop a Project Execution Plan in conjunction with pre-construction and operations teams for effective contract compliance, resource planning, and scheduling.
Monitor financial aspects of the project, including cost tracking, revenue projections, and maintaining project records.
Manage procurement processes for materials and subcontracts, overseeing on-site management and invoicing.
Prepare monthly projections of costs to completion and engage in pre-construction planning with project teams.
Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are obtained for project execution.
Document project activities, including submittals, RFI's, meeting minutes, and work plans.
Maintain open communication with contracting parties and project stakeholders.
Oversee project closeout, including final documentation and invoicing procedures.
Cultivate relationships within local markets and interact with project teams and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Project Manager I:
High School diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 3 to 5 years of experience in Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction, demonstrating knowledge of techniques, estimating, and construction management.
Project Manager II:
High School diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of experience in Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of techniques, estimating, and project management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with project management systems such as Procore, Build2Win, MS Project, or P6.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel.
Ability to interpret and review contracts effectively.
Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing project teams.
Understanding of job cost accounting and CPM scheduling.
Willingness and capacity for extensive travel (up to 75%).
