Job Description:
Duke Energy is hiring a Project Manager for Grid Modernization initiatives in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing complex projects focused on upgrading and enhancing the electricity grid. This includes managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources for projects involving smart grid technologies, renewable integration, and infrastructure improvements, ensuring they are delivered safely and effectively.
Responsibilities:
Lead the planning and execution of grid modernization projects from initiation to closure. Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed. Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and external vendors. Communicate project status, progress, and performance to stakeholders, including senior leadership. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Manage project financials, including tracking expenditures and forecasting costs. Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and right-of-ways for project execution. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Lead project team meetings and facilitate effective communication. Conduct project closure activities and lessons learned sessions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, preferably in the energy or utility sector. Proven experience managing complex infrastructure projects, such as grid upgrades, substation projects, or transmission/distribution line projects. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools. Experience with project scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Familiarity with smart grid technologies (e.g., AMI, SCADA) is a plus. Knowledge of safety regulations in the utility industry.
