About the position

McCormick Taylor, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for Environmental Services to lead project teams in obtaining local, state, and federal approvals for energy clients. This role requires a strong background in environmental documentation and resource assessments, particularly in relation to energy utilities and local permitting across various states including Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all project deliverables meet the required standards and regulations. The successful candidate will attend project meetings, lead presentations, and coordinate with staff to complete assignments effectively. They will manage resource assessments, including fieldwork and data collection, and lead permitting efforts for various infrastructure projects. The role also involves supporting site development design plan reviews, managing hazardous waste and stormwater programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The Project Manager will represent the organization in communications and conferences, ensuring technical accuracy and quality assurance in all work produced. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Project Manager will mentor junior and mid-level staff, support marketing activities, and contribute to technical proposal writing. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Civil/Environmental Engineering, with 5 to 12 years of relevant experience, and a strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes. Excellent communication and technical writing skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with CADD and GIS tools. Responsibilities
• Attends project meetings and leads presentations on specific projects/concepts

• Coordinates and assists with all staff necessary to complete assignments
,
• Responsible for development of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
,
• Applies knowledge of principles and practices in specific areas of assignments and fields
,
• Client and Agency Coordination
,
• Manages resource assessment, including field work, data collection, and report development
,
• Leads local, state and federal permitting efforts for various infrastructure project types
,
• Supports site development design plan review, including constructibility, and design coordination
,
• Manages and develops plans, permits, procedures and reports for hazardous waste, storm water, spill prevention, NPDES, and wastewater programs
,
• Leads environmental compliance assessments and implements follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
,
• Manages the field oversight of construction projects to ensure compliance with approved engineering plan documents
,
• Represents the organization in communication and conferences pertaining to specific aspects of projects or programs
,
• Responsible for technical accuracy and QA/QC of work
,
• Acts as a technical specialist or advisor to Senior Project Managers and Directors
,
• Fully versed in permitting and regulatory protocols; provides regulatory program support to clients independently
,
• Manages small project teams of junior/midlevel staff
,
• Supports marketing activities and technical proposal writing
,
• Supports the technical aspects of a team
,
• Mentors supporting staff
,
• Initial exposure to project backlog projections

Requirements
• BS in Environmental Science or BS-Civil/Environmental Engineering (Water Resource or Environmental emphasis preferred)
,
• 5 to 12 years of experience in environmental services
,
• Expertise in environmental regulations and extensive knowledge of state-specific requirements/regulations (NJ/PA/MD/DE/VA)
,
• Excellent communication skills and technical writing skills
,
• Management of construction oversight and/or inspection experience (preferred)
,
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite; working knowledge of CADD and/or GIS
,
• Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations as it applies to area of expertise
,
• Experience in project management
,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
,
• Experience working directly with clients and developing client relationships
,
• Developing knowledge in invoicing, status reports, accounts receivable, and related accounting needs
,
• Developing knowledge in contract management
