Alex Fraser, a leader in sustainable asphalt and recycling solutions, is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our team in Brisbane. In this pivotal role, you will oversee key infrastructure projects across the Greater Brisbane area, focusing on the construction of recycling and asphalt facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead environmentally responsible initiatives that shape the future of sustainable construction.
About the Role
As a Project Manager, you will play a central role in delivering projects that support sustainable infrastructure development. You’ll be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—ensuring timelines, budgets, environmental compliance, and quality standards are met. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring frequent travel throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
• Project Leadership: Oversee the design and construction of asphalt and recycling plants, ensuring integration of sustainable construction practices and efficient recycling systems.
• Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans focused on recycling performance, waste reduction, and use of environmentally friendly materials. Monitor progress to meet time, budget, and sustainability targets.
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and review project documentation including feasibility assessments, environmental management plans, and regulatory reports. Ensure alignment with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, and environmental regulations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (contractors, consultants, regulatory bodies) to ensure effective project delivery and environmental outcomes.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate environmental, safety, and operational risks. Champion sustainability and responsible construction practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with best practices in asphalt plant operations, recycling innovations, and environmental standards. Promote ongoing professional development and operational efficiencies.
• Strategic Expansion: Evaluate new opportunities to expand the use of recycled materials in infrastructure projects. Contribute to capital planning and feasibility reporting to support long-term growth.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of project management principles and civil/mechanical construction techniques.
• Proven experience integrating sustainability and recycling processes into construction projects.
• Effective team leadership and stakeholder influencing skills.
• Solid background in environmental risk management, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and general computer systems; experience with AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
Experience & Qualifications
• Proven experience in a senior project or supervisory role within the construction, asphalt, or recycling sectors.
• 3–5+ years of project management or engineering experience, with a strong focus on sustainability and resource recovery.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline are highly regarded.
