Candidates should have a degree in engineering or related fields, with 5+ years in renewable energy project development. The position requires frequent travel across Europe (50%+).
Development Manager – Renewable Energy (Rome/Southern Italy)
A leading, European renewable energy investment and development platform is seeking a Development Manager to join its dynamic and growing team. This is a key strategic role for a high-performing professional eager to play a central part in accelerating Europe’s clean energy transition.
Working in close partnership with experienced renewable energy developers across the continent, the company brings projects from early-stage development through to construction and commercial operation. With a strong financial backing and a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset, the business aims to become a top-tier player in the European renewable space.
As Development Manager , you will lead the progression of utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects across multiple jurisdictions—managing land, permitting, grid, and commercial development activities, and ensuring successful delivery to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify new greenfield opportunities in renewable energy and storage
• Lead project development efforts through to RTB status, including land acquisition, permitting, grid connection and stakeholder engagement
• Manage internal and external partners, consultants, and service providers to deliver on milestones, budgets, and timelines
• Maintain project tracking tools, databases, and GIS mapping for effective oversight
• Support commercial and power marketing initiatives
• Conduct regional market intelligence and competitor analysis
• Build and maintain relationships with local communities, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders
• Implement best-in-class systems, controls, and performance management for a multi-jurisdictional project portfolio
• Contribute to due diligence and technical support during acquisitions and project financing
• Provide development insight through the full project lifecycle—from concept through to commercial operations
• Frequent travel across Europe (50%+)
Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years’ experience in renewable energy project development, ideally with exposure to utility-scale wind, solar, and/or battery storage
• Proven leadership of complex, cross-border development initiatives with strong stakeholder and partner management skills
• Excellent communication skills;
fluency in English required, and fluency in other European languages is a plus
• Energetic, proactive, and flexible individual with strong self-drive and commercial acumen
