Job Description

CleanMax is seeking a Project Implementation lead for carbon projects in Mumbai. Responsibilities include project planning, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, risk management, and financial oversight. The role requires 12-15 years of experience in community project implementation and offers opportunities for career growth in the carbon market. This is a full-time position based on-site in Mumbai.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution
• Lead the on-ground execution of rural agroforestry and agri-related carbon projects, ensuring alignment with carbon methodologies.
• Develop and supervise work plans, budgets, and timelines for project implementation.
• Ensure projects meet technical, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards based on guidance provided by the science team.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
• Build strong relationships with local communities, landowners, government agencies, and NGOs to facilitate smooth implementation.
• Co-ordinate and supervise capacity-building programs for community stakeholders on carbon project benefits and sustainable land management.

Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV)
• Oversee data collection for baseline studies, carbon stock assessments, and ecological monitoring based on guidance provided by the science team.
• Supervise and manage data of program participants.
• Supervise remote sensing, GIS mapping, and field surveys to track project progress.

Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify and mitigate project risks, including natural disasters, plant diseases, regulatory hurdles, and land tenure issues.
• Implement grievance mechanisms to address concerns from stakeholders.
• Develop project-specific SOPs to support operational coordination, streamline processes, and enhance capacity-building efforts across diverse teams, ensuring alignment with policy and regulatory frameworks.

Financial & Performance Management
• Optimize project budgets, ensuring cost-effective implementation.
• Work closely with the investment and finance teams to ensure project viability and maximize carbon revenue.

Scaling & Replication of Projects
• Innovate and adopt new methodologies for carbon sequestration and biodiversity co-benefits.
• Contribute to thought leadership by presenting project insights at conferences, working groups, and policy discussions.

Build the project implementation team
• Identify and hire team members for the implementation team including project supervisors, account assistants, data managers, etc.
• Full autonomy to build the Carbon project implementation team at CleanMax.

Preferred Experience:
• 12-15 years of experience in community project implementation.
• Experience working with rural communities, investors, financial institutions, and compliance carbon markets.
