General Summary: The Project Geologist/Environmental Scientist will join a team of professionals to manage Environmental Division projects, handling everything from planning and scheduling to budgeting throughout the project’s life cycle. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager or Division Manager, you will perform both office and field tasks. These include soil and groundwater sampling, installing monitoring wells, conducting groundwater hydraulic tests, and investigating how contaminants break down and move in the environment.
This role requires strong attention to detail, time management, multitasking, team leadership, and a solid work ethic. Responsibilities will involve a mix of fieldwork and office duties, including travel to job sites, client offices, and local or state regulatory agencies. Most projects will take place in the Denver metro area, the Front Range, and parts of Colorado and Wyoming. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with clients and regulatory officials.
Essential Functions:
• Experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Handling permits and preparing plans for Stormwater monitoring, soil erosion, and sediment control.
• Familiarity with drilling techniques and equipment, including hollow-stem-auger, air/mud-rotary, and DPT methods.
• Supervising drilling operations, including permitting, design, installation, and development of monitoring wells.
• Basic understanding of the State’s construction dewatering and remediation permit processes.
• Knowledge of RCRA and Colorado’s Voluntary Cleanup Program.
• Scheduling and conducting soil, groundwater, and air/vapor sampling.
• Logging soil according to the Unified Soil Classification System.
• Calibrating, using, and maintaining field instruments.
• Subcontractor selection, oversight, coordination, management, and invoicing
• Analyzing soil and groundwater analytical data and the QC of laboratory reports
• Preparing groundwater contour potentiometric maps
• Preparing isoconcentration maps
• Preparing time-series concentration versus time regression analysis
• General understanding of Statistical analysis of groundwater data
• General understanding of Chemical Oxidation/Reduction and Bioremediation
• Writing bid documents and technical reports, letters, and memoranda
• Preparing cost estimates and proposals
• Preparing reports for groundwater investigations, corrective Action Plan, and Voluntary Cleanup Plan programs
• Working independently, but also collaboratively with team members
• Using your interpersonal skills to work with a large variety of clientele and contractors
• Understanding of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook at a high proficiency
• Working on and around private, industrial, and federal RCRA facilities and construction sites
• Performing excavation oversight of asbestos containing materials (ACM), sampling and recognition of ACM and Regulated ACM
• Preparing Site-specific Health & Safety Plans and/or job-hazard safety analyses forms
• Following applicable OSHA guidelines, rules, and SOP standards for each project
• Maintaining quality assurance and control standards on each project
• Understanding the general EPA laboratory methods and techniques for soil and groundwater analyses, bottle types and preservation, and holding times
• Embracing and demonstrating the Company’s purpose and values and taking ownership of the work you do
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrology, Geosciences, Environmental Science, or related field
• 5 to 8 years of direct and relevant experience
• Licensed Professional Geologist and/or Engineer, or capacity to become licensed
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Required Certifications: 40-hr Hazwoper Training and Hazwoper 8-hr Refresher
• Asbestos (CABI) licensure – or willing to obtain within the first year preferred
Pay: $85,000 – $100,000 per year

Their tasks often involve written and verbal communication, reading and understanding data, information, and documents, as well as analyzing and solving problems. They use math skills, pay close attention to details, and handle multiple tasks at the same time. Employees also observe and interpret situations, learn new information or skills, and interact with coworkers, supervisors, staff from other departments, inspectors, and other professionals they meet during their work.
