Job Description

The Project Engineering Manager at NAES in Issaquah, WA, is responsible for redesigning and executing solar project remediation efforts. Summary

The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for redesigning, redeveloping, and executing solar project remediation efforts. Work with engineers to redesign and optimize solar PV systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Oversee the development of technical drawings, specifications, and feasibility assessments, including energy yield analysis and cost estimations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate battery storage, grid interconnection, and power electronics for efficient system performance. Support business development by providing technical expertise in proposals and staying informed on emerging solar energy technologies.

Primary Duties
• Work with a team of engineers in redesigning and optimizing solar PV systems.
• Oversee the development of technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation for solar projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, UL, OSHA).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, procurement, and construction.
• Conduct technical feasibility assessments, energy yield analysis, and cost estimations for new projects.
• Provide guidance on solar panel selection, inverters, racking systems, and energy storage solutions.
• Manage the integration of battery storage, grid interconnection, and power electronics where applicable.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency and quality.
• Support business development by providing technical expertise in proposals and client meetings.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and advancements in solar energy.

Working Relationships

The person in the job reports to the VP of Renewables

Compensation

Initial starting compensation will range from $127,000 to $146,150

Job Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
• Years of Experience:
• Five years of experience in solar energy technologies, grid integration, and power system design.
• Experience working with NERC, FERC, OSHA, NEC, IEEE
• Report writing: Module/Inverter replacement studies, Engineering Reviews, Performance Evaluations and availability studies, O&M Contract review, field service reporting.
• Software/Equipment Knowledge: Solar design software (PVsyst, Python, AlsoEnergy, Helioscope, AutoCAD, ETAP)
• Other Considerations:
• Knowledge of utility interconnection processes, permitting, and environmental regulations
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours may be required based on specific requirements. Ground and air travel is required of this position. Ability to travel up to 20-30% is required. Work is performed at an established home office environment or headquarters office, and on industrial sites that require protective clothing and equipment. Work at facilities can occur around industrial hazards, in areas of high noise levels, and around new construction. Physical mobility to transverse stairways, ladders, grating, and uneven terrain are essential. Ability to see, hear, read, and react to warning signs, lights, and alarms are essential.

Fit for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
