Clark Dietz is seeking a Project Engineer for their Transportation Team in Champaign, IL. The role involves designing transportation and municipal projects, applying various design guidelines, and utilizing tools like MicroStation and ArcGIS. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Transportation Team based out of our Champaign, IL office. The selected candidate will work on a wide variety of transportation and municipal engineering projects and be responsible for design tasks from conception to delivery. Our transportation projects can include a variety of linear features along a transportation corridor, such as traffic, pavement, signals and lighting, structures, storm systems, drainage, watermain transmission, and sanitary systems.
Primary Responsibilities
• Performs design tasks for a variety of transportation improvement projects under the direction of a Sr. Engineer or Project Manager.
• Applies local, state, and federal design guidelines and standards to complete transportation, traffic, and drainage related designs.
• Utilizes design guidelines from IDOT, ITE, NACTO, AASHTO and MUTCD to develop multimodal solutions and alternatives.
• Develops specifications and quantity estimates for transportation or site-civil related projects.
• Develops horizontal/vertical and cross-sectional geometry for roadway and/or drainage projects.
• Understands and applies the Highway Capacity Manual to complete traffic related designs.
• Creates plans and bid documents for project deliverables using a variety of design and modeling tools including: MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, Geopak, ArcGIS, HCS, Synchro and Excel.
• Coordinates with public/private utilities to document physical location and analyze potential conflicts.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to Jr. staff to help them develop basic technical capabilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
• B.S Degree in Civil Engineering and EIT is required. Illinois PE is desired.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience with transportation and municipal infrastructure design and rehabilitation is required.
• Knowledge and ability to perform design tasks/calculations with limited oversight for IDOT, county or municipal transportation projects is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the IDOT design manuals, submittals, permitting, and environmental requirements is required.
• Rural and urban drainage design experience is desired.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare concise reports or memos and interface with clients and owners as needed.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work as part of a team across multiple offices.
• Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation is required. Proficiency with Geopak and Open Roads Designer (ORD) is desired.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client and project sites is required.
Compensation

The starting salary range is $78,347 - $101,504 + hiring bonus and industry leading annual bonus.
