TasNetworks is hiring a Project Engineer for Primary Substations in Hobart, Tasmania. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering high-voltage substation projects, ensuring quality compliance, and collaborating with various stakeholders. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Electrical or related engineering fields and project management experience. About The Role
TasNetworks are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Project Engineer, Primary Substations to join our growing Northwest Major Transmission Projects team!
This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects that are essential to the future of energy distribution.You’ll play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of high-voltage substation projects and other projects.
Pivotal to the success of this role, you will need to ensure Engineering Deliverables undergo the required quality requirements specified in the Quality Management Plan and collaborating with the wider Major Transmission Projects team, external contractors and TasNetworks Operations stream.You will be responsible for the identification, planning and content of primary substation engineering deliverables throughout the lifecycle of the project (design, construction, commissioning and close-out).
About You
To be successful in this role you will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering).Having project engineering/management experience with an in-depth understanding of project management systems including cost and schedule tracking will be highly advantageous.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a proven ability to manage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders is essential, as you will liaise with contractors and our internal teams on a regular basis to ensure compliance with planning approvals.
The successful candidate will also possess –
• Extensive experience in transmission project delivery (both greenfield and brownfield)
• Demonstrated experience in primary substation design and construction
• Familiarity with relevant standards
• Excellent problem-solving skills
During construction phase, there will be a higher need for intrastate travel, as you will need to conduct quality checks during construction.
