About the Role
As Project Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving the commercial and technical viability of large-scale wind energy projects. You will oversee site identification, land agreements, environmental and planning approvals, and grid connection processes, working closely with regulatory bodies, landowners, and internal engineering and commercial teams to bring projects to successful execution.
This role requires a deep understanding of wind energy development, a strong network within the industry, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory, commercial, and technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the origination and development of large-scale wind projects from initial feasibility through to financial close.
• Identify and secure suitable land for wind energy projects, negotiating agreements with landowners.
• Manage environmental impact assessments, permitting processes, and planning approvals.
• Oversee grid connection applications, liaising with AEMO, network service providers, and consultants.
• Develop commercial strategies to optimise project economics, working closely with internal financial modelling teams.
• Engage with government agencies, regulators, and industry stakeholders to navigate policy and compliance frameworks.
• Coordinate with technical, legal, and engineering teams to ensure project feasibility and execution readiness.
• Manage stakeholder engagement, including community consultation, local government liaison, and public communications.
• Monitor and respond to market, regulatory, and policy developments impacting wind energy projects.
• Develop and maintain relationships with joint venture partners, investors, and offtakers.
Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in large-scale wind energy project development, ideally in Australia.
• Strong understanding of land acquisition processes, environmental and planning approvals, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing grid connection processes, including technical and commercial negotiations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience liaising with regulators, government bodies, and community groups.
• Commercial acumen, with experience optimising project financials and risk management strategies.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Degree qualifications in engineering, environmental science, renewable energy, or a related field.
