Job Description

Squadron Energy is seeking a Project Controls Manager to oversee best practices in project controls for their renewable energy projects. The role includes managing scheduling, cost and change management, risk management, and leading the Project Controls team. Candidates should have at least 15 years of experience in project controls for large-scale projects. This position is remote, allowing candidates to work from anywhere.

The Role

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated candidate with Project Controls Management experience.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Controls Manager is responsible for ensuring best practice Project Controls systems and processes are applied. Primary responsibilities include managing the Project Controls functions including scheduling, cost and change management, risk management, and document control and administration, while providing effective leadership to the Project Controls Team members.

Key responsibilities:
• Manage the Project Controls framework, tools, systems, and reporting on assigned Project, ensuring alignment to the strategic objectives of SQE.
• Coordinate with SQE Project Controls and Project Governance Community of Practice to ensure best practice system and process application.
• Manage and lead team of Project Controls staff within the Project.
• Collaborate with Project Directors, Project Managers, and various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting, effective change management, and adherence to project controls fundamentals.
• Manage the monthly Cost Management process, including cashflow forecasting, contingency management, and Estimate at Complete (EAC) assessment.
• Review contractor variations and extension of time claims and assess impacts to Project EAC.
• Provide Senior Project team members and Project Management Office (PMO) with updates on contractor performance and assist in the resolution of commercial disputes.
• Lead the preparation of Project reporting, including all aspects of the cost, schedule, progress, variance, and risk and opportunities.
• Liaise with the Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance team to ensure Project related elements integrate with enterprise-wide system and standards.
• Provide clear picture of Project cost, schedule and risk position and trends to Senior Project Management team.
• Work closely with project managers and other key team members to align project controls with overall project objectives. Ensure seamless integration of project control functions into the broader project management framework.

About you

You will have:
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience working in a similar role within Project teams or a Project Management Office.
• Proven experience in project controls within large-scale infrastructure or energy/resources projects.
• Significant experience managing Project Controls functions on large, complex projects.
• Experience in managing and assisting with complex variation and extension of time claims.
• Experience in financial and budgetary control on large scale projects.
• Experience managing schedule and cost risk assessments using a Monte Carlo simulation system.
• Experience administering Project Controls Systems.
• Working knowledge of Project commercial management processes.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning methodologies.
• Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.
