Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Project Consultant for Sustainability and Resilience in their Portland, OR office. The Role
As aProject Consultantof Sustainability & Resilience in our Portland office, you will be a part of our analytical, agile, and innovative team. We are searching for a candidate that will bring an openness to learning new things and excitement to share knowledge with others. We enjoy working with diverse project teams and building owners to deliver solutions to our clients to ensure their buildings are designed with the highest sustainability, health, and wellness standards. You will have ample support for internal growth, offering the opportunity to assist in leading teams and projects as part of a growing global team delivering innovative sustainability strategies on national and international projects. If you are passionate about sustainable building strategies and systems, and familiar with both commercial and residential construction techniques, you will fit right in.
Responsibilities
You will work with architects, engineers, developers, and building owners along the east coast to participate and support local and international projects with a focus on high performance, sustainability-driven projects.
You will develop and analyze design approaches, systems, and strategies that offer our clients solutions to their biggest sustainability challenges.
Your day to day will allow you to coordinate and consult on multiple projects and manage project team members to achieve desired results.
There will be participation with team members in sustainable design charrettes, workshops, and design meetings. Attend design and construction meetings.
Participate/facilitate meetings with project team members to review and document sustainability with local, state, and federal codes.
Research innovative materials and technologies as related to building sustainability, embodied carbon, health, and wellness.
Work with the Portland Sustainability & Resilience Practice Leader to network and build relationships in the Northeast internally and externally by attending conferences, events, and committees.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
0-2+ years of experience in building science, architectural, engineering, construction fields, and/or sustainability consulting.
LEED Green Associate credential. LEED AP BD+C to be earned 6 months after date of hire. Experience with other third-party certifications such as WELL, Fitwel, Passive House, Living Building Challenge preferred.
Possess the ability to work independently.
Technical knowledge in the building industry and ability to navigate design and construction documentation.
Experience in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, ClimateStudio, One Click LCA, and Adobe Creative Suite desirable.
