Encore Renewable Energy is seeking a Project Analyst to support its renewable energy project development, finance, and construction management. The role focuses on strategic and financial analysis for business development and project finance, including market research and policy evaluation. The position requires a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and will report to the COO & CFO, collaborating with the management team. The job is based in Burlington, VT or New York, NY.

Since the Company’s formation in 2009, Encore has established itself as a leader in the VT solar market having been involved in the development of over 16MW across more than 40 community-scale solar projects, with an additional 15MW expected in 2017. The Company is in the process of building from its leadership position in VT to expand into other highly attractive markets across the east coast of the U.S., and is targeting key hires to expand its team to allow it to meet its strategic objectives.

Project Analyst Position

Encore Renewable Energy is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with the skills, experience, and aptitude to serve as Project Analyst. The successful candidate will work with our team in support of the firm's rapidly growing renewable energy project development, finance, and construction management practice.

Overview

The Project Analyst will work across the entire portfolio of Encore’s corporate and development activities, but will have two core areas of focus: i) supporting business development decisions through rigorous strategic and financial analysis of market opportunities (e.g., geographic, market segments, technologies, etc.), and ii) corporate and project finance.

The Analyst will support all aspects of business development and market research, working closely with business development, project development, finance and legal to evaluate new and evolving markets. The scope of this activity will include responsibility for researching state level solar and clean energy regulatory and interconnect policies, as well as incentive programs related to the Company’s interest in the design and development of grid connected commercial and industrial scale solar projects and associated energy storage projects.

The project finance component of the role will have the Analyst lead the financial modeling required to support all aspects of the Company’s project development, construction, and project finance activities.

This is a high-skill position, requiring an experienced and talented professional who can fit in well with the Encore culture of productivity, growth, and performance driven by our values. The Project Analyst will report to the Chief Operating Officer & CFO and will also work closely with other members of the management team including the Chief Development Officer and the Director of Business Development.

Business Development Responsibilities
• Review solar and renewable energy policy and programs in multiple jurisdictions
• Research and quantify available incentive programs
• Evaluate utility policies, tariffs, and rate schedules
• Develop and maintain market-specific financial models
• Provide recommendations for market entry
• Research and keep Company current with new laws, regulatory conditions
• Prepare proposals in response to RFP solicitations
• Generate process diagrams for project entitlements and utility interconnection processes
• Screen GIS data for potential project sites
• Research land records and parcel information

Project and Corporate Finance Responsibilities
• Perform financial modeling of project and corporate finance transactions including equity, development capital, tax equity and debt
• Coordinate cross-functional internal and external teams in executing financing transactions
• Lead diligence processes for all project and corporate financings
• Support investor relations and accounting functions

Requirements
• Bachelor’s in Finance, Business, Engineering, Math, Science, or other rigorously quantitative field
• 2 - 4+ years experience with relevant project finance and corporate finance modeling
• Renewable energy finance experience strongly preferred with in-depth knowledge of financial modeling for solar PV systems, including tax equity familiarity
• Demonstrated experience working with solar programs & policies across state markets at a national level, with a strong understanding of impacts that utility regulatory, net metering, and rate structures have on project level financials
• Experience working in collaboration with and contributing to a development team;
• Highly effective in the development of high impact presentations and proposals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive knowledge and capabilities to work in Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated computer expertise, including advanced Word, PowerPoint, Google Earth, etc.
• Diligent, detailed oriented, and dynamic. Able to self-organize priorities, set and work to deadlines, often with limited direct oversight
• Strong aptitude to learn complex concepts (tax rules, energy policy, financial structures, etc.)
• Outstanding in conducting market research
• A high degree of emotional intelligence
• Team player - willingness to pitch in across the organization
