The International Union for Conservation of Nature is hiring a Programme Associate for the B4RL project in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The role involves coordinating project activities, supporting policy development, and engaging with community stakeholders to enhance biodiversity and promote climate-adaptive livelihoods. The position is fixed-term for up to 12 months with a full-time commitment, starting on May 1, 2026.

Closing date: 30 March 2026BACKGROUNDIUCN Bangladesh, with support from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), has been implementing a project entitled 'Biodiversity for Resilient Livelihood (B4RL) in the Modified Ganges Delta Bangladesh' as a consortium partner with CNRS, CEDIO, BELA, NSU, and Prerona.

The project aims to achieve three key outcome areas: (i) Strengthening governance systems, (ii) Enhancing biodiversity, and (iii) Promoting climate-adaptive livelihood opportunities, with a strong emphasis on gender responsiveness and market linkages. It is engaging and mobilising 20,000 poor and vulnerable community members across three sites: (1) Shyamnagar Upazila in Satkhira District, (2) Dacope and Koyra Upazilas in Khulna District, and (3) the degraded 49 km stretch of the Fatki River basin in Magura and Narail Districts.JOB DESCRIPTIONMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative, under the direct supervision of Programme Manager, Species and Habitats and functional supervision of the Programme Officer-Water and Wetlands, the Programme Associate will be responsible for implementing the project activities and project development, especially in the light of the Partnership Agreement between donors and IUCN.SPECIFIC DUTIES

Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative, and the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, Species and Habitats, and the functional supervision of the Programme Officer-Water and Wetlands, the Programme Associate will undertake the following specific responsibilities:
• Maintain effective coordination and communication with consortium partners, attend regular meetings, and provide technical assistance in line with the partnership agreement.
• Assist in preparing land-use zoning proposals in coordination with CNRS.
• Provide support in drafting policy briefs on OECM, NbS, and related topics.
• Assist in developing NbS Policy, Strategy, and SoPs/guidelines.
• Help organize sharing and validation workshops, including preparation of meeting minutes and reports.
• Support coordination for OECM policy development, guidelines, and SoP activities.
• Assist in organizing OECM validation workshops and documentation.
• Support planning, field coordination, and monitoring for mangrove and wetland restoration activities.
• Assist in arranging stakeholder dialogues on political economy methodology.
• Support preparation of potential OECM site lists, data collection, and field documentation.
• Assist in organizing public hearings and stakeholder consultations.
• Support field coordination related to the OECM declaration process.
• Provide support in organizing NbS training sessions for government officials.
• Assist in issue-based national advocacy events related to OECM.
• Assist in engaging consultants for various studies and assessments, support them in field-level data collection, data sorting, and community engagement, and review the submitted reports by the consultants.
• Assist the M&E Focal Point and the Project Manager with indicator tracking, data collection and analysis, quality assurance, and timely reporting following M&E framework of the project.
• Support the organization of ToT sessions for project staff on NbS monitoring and integration.
• Assist in organizing different project events with people of concern and other stakeholders (e.g. discussions, meetings, workshops, training sessions, knowledge sharing events, and promotional opportunities for the project) in project sites and other part of the country.
• Lead the preparation of project documents and reports, including donor reports, event reports, case studies, fact sheets, and web stories, following donor and partner reporting guidelines and timelines, ensuring the timely submission of high-quality outputs.
• Ensure that IUCN's, donor and partners policies and mandates as outlined in the signed contract is duly complied with in all project activities; and
• Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Programme Manager-Species and Habitat or Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh, from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS
• Education
With 4-6 years' experience in relevant field; some managerial skills preferred. Master's degree in Forestry/ Environment Science
