Amazon is seeking a Program Manager for Sustainability Packaging in Japan CPEX, based in Andover, MA. The role involves overseeing fulfillment operations, developing business strategies for sustainability, and collaborating with various stakeholders. Amazon aims to deliver products to customers faster and at lower costs while simultaneously setting a goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions from its e-commerce business by 2040. The Customer Packaging Experience (CPEX) team at Japan Customer Fulfillment Solutions (JCFS) is looking for a Business Planner to help realize this challenging goal together. The role involves overseeing Amazon Japan's fulfillment operations and packaging initiatives comprehensively, leading the development and execution of a balanced business strategy that considers speed, cost, safety, sustainability, and scalability.
We are seeking someone who can proactively drive strategic progress and enjoys developing innovative strategies while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will create a 1-year and 3-year roadmap in English, presenting it to Amazon Japan's VPs, Directors, and the packaging team to obtain execution approval and support. Additionally, this position will work with WW Sustainability and external experts to quantify and report on CO2 and plastic emissions from Amazon Japan's packaging.
This role reports to the CPEX Business Planning Manager and will also report progress to Amazon Japan Leadership through monthly reports and 3-year plans.
Key job responsibilities
• Identify cost reduction opportunities in FC/EF warehouse operations based on quantitative data from data analysis and qualitative data from on-site verification. Create a comprehensive FC/EF low-cost strategy to realize these opportunities. Additionally, deepen understanding of various systems (Operation Technology, IT) and shipping processes that support Amazon FC/EF Operations to identify business challenges and design diverse solutions.
• Develop project execution plans and technology development/implementation plans that align with the above strategy. Build consensus with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including Amazon Leadership, to ensure execution.
• Build trust relationships not only with JCFS technicians but also broadly with Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, and external business partners to collaboratively execute projects. Gather feedback from contracted companies responsible for on-site shipping operations to continuously seek improvements and proactively uncover new business opportunities.
• Serve as the point of contact for communication with external experts, leading the creation of a system to quantify and report CO2 emissions from Amazon Japan's packaging.
• Monitor program progress and report KPIs, results, and achievements to domestic and international stakeholders.A day in the life
You join JP CPEX's weekly team meeting, where members not only share project progress and success stories but also ask for support from managers and peers to solve issues they face in their programs.
You will also have a weekly touch-point with key internal/external stakeholders, ranging from PMs, Procurement, Fulfillment Center Operation and Transportation to Retail and Fulfillment By Amazon, to align key business decisions across the organizations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- Experience in analyzing data to drive decisions
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Japanese language proficiency at business level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of managing stakeholders in cross-functional project experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
