The Environmental Learning Center’s mission is to inspire people to connect with and become stewards of our natural world. As an outreach program run through the Warner College of Natural Resources, we connect the knowledge, skills, and talents within the college to the northern Colorado community and act as a learning lab for CSU students interested in gaining skills and experience in environmental education and communication and land management. We create and implement environmental education and service-learning programs for community members of all ages including students across campus.
Position Summary
A program coordinator position is available with Colorado State University and the Environmental Learning Center to be located at CSU’s main campus in Fort Collins, CO and the Environmental Learning Center located at 2400 S. Co. Rd. 9 in Fort Collins, CO.
The Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of educational programming. They are in charge of scheduling programs with various community groups (e.g., schools, scout groups, CSU organizations) and coordinating on-going programs (i.e., school out day programs, middle and high school programs, summer camps). This person is the on-site supervisor for our summer camp program. This person helps coordinate field trips and mentorships for our Pulliam Scholars program. This person maintains the registration process for all of our programs. They co-supervise the office hours of our student-hourly employees. They assist in training and managing student staff and perform other administrative tasks such as customer relations, website updates, payment deposits. They are the first-line supervisor during the first month of the summer season.
Required Job Qualifications
• B.S. in Natural Resources or related field
• 3 years experience in environmental/outdoor education setting
• Supervisory experience
• Experience working with children ages 5 through 18
• Experience supervising an outdoor, educational summer camp
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• The ability to work independently
• CPR/First Aid certification
Preferred Job Qualifications
• Experience working in a university setting
• Experience working with and leading college students
• Experience leading a small team
• Experience planning and managing organizational calendar
• Small group facilitation skills
• Familiarity with northern Colorado flora, fauna, ecosystems
• Familiarity with Environmental Learning Center property
• Experience facilitating art workshops
• Experience with scientific illustration
Essential Duties

• Manage staff during their office hours for support and productivity.
• Observe and offer feedback for new staff during on-site programming.
• Be on-site for a majority of time during summer camps to help trouble-shoot and manage camp environment.
• Review all ‘custom-created’ lesson plans to ensure mission, values, and program characteristics are upheld.
