Job Description
Labor Solutions, LLC is seeking a Production Planner in Des Plaines, IL, responsible for coordinating production schedules for sheet metal fabrication. Key duties include developing schedules, collaborating with teams, monitoring material availability, and analyzing production data. Candidates should have 5–7 years of relevant experience, knowledge of fabrication processes, and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems. The role is in a hands-on manufacturing environment with opportunities for professional growth.
Position Summary:
The Production Planner will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and maintaining efficient production schedules for all sheet metal fabrication operations. This individual will play a key role in aligning production capacity with material availability and customer demand while ensuring smooth workflow across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to balance materials, capacity, and labor priorities.
• Monitor material availability, job progress, and order status to identify and prevent potential bottlenecks.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accuracy within ERP/MRP systems and ensure production records are up to date.
• Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on scheduling, efficiency, and workflow optimization.
Required Qualifications:
• 5–7 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication production planning or scheduling.
• Hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes including laser/punch, bending, welding, and finishing.
• Demonstrated stability and success in long-term roles within the industry.
• Strong understanding of capacity planning, material flow, and production sequencing.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accountability and commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement practices.
• Familiarity with ISO-certified or quality-driven production environments.
• Local candidates from Des Plaines or nearby Northwest Suburbs preferred.
