Job Description
VFLOWTECH PTE. LTD. is seeking a Production Head for their vanadium flow battery manufacturing facility in Palwal, Haryana, India. The role involves leading manufacturing operations, optimizing processes, ensuring quality and safety, managing the production team, and driving continuous improvement to meet production targets. Key responsibilities include capacity planning, performance monitoring, supply chain collaboration, and fostering team development within a compliant and safe environment.
The Head of Manufacturing is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of VFlowTech’s vanadium flow battery manufacturing facility in India. This includes establishing and optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and safety, managing the production team, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement to achieve production targets and contribute to VFlowTech’s overall strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management & Operations:
• Planning: Develop and implement the manufacturing strategy for the India facility, aligned with VFlowTech’s global manufacturing strategy and business objectives. This includes capacity planning, resource allocation, and facility improvement roadmap development.
• Production Execution: Oversee all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production of batteries, meeting quality standards and delivery schedules. This includes managing the production schedule, optimizing workflow, and troubleshooting production issues including New product Development (NPD)and also its manufacturing and implementation.
• Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track manufacturing performance, including output, yield, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. Regularly analyze performance data and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Capacity Management: Forecast production demand and plan capacity accordingly. Manage capacity utilization and identify opportunities for cost optimization and productivity improvements.
• Supply Chain Management (Collaboration): Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure timely procurement of materials and components, manage inventory levels, and optimize the supply chain for cost and efficiency.
• Governance: Ensure all production activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, internal policies, and ethical guidelines.
2. Quality & Safety:
• Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain a robust quality management system (QMS) to ensure the highest quality of manufactured products. Oversee quality control processes, testing procedures, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Safety Management: Create and enforce a strong safety culture within the manufacturing facility. Implement safety protocols, conduct regular safety training, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Environmental Compliance: Ensure the manufacturing facility operates in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permits. Implement environmental management practices to minimize environmental impact.
• Governance: Maintain accurate and complete records related to quality control, safety incidents, and environmental compliance. Ensure transparency and auditability of these records.
3. Team Leadership & Development:
• Team Management: Lead, manage, and mentor the manufacturing team, including production supervisors, technicians, and operators. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Talent Development: Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the manufacturing team. Support employee development and career progression.
• Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and set performance goals for team members.
• Governance: Promote a culture of ethical conduct and compliance within the manufacturing team. Ensure all team members are aware of and adhere to VFlowTech’s code of conduct and other relevant policies.
4. Cost Management & Continuous Improvement:
• Budget Management: Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
• Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvement, waste reduction, and efficiency gains.
• Continuous Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize manufacturing processes, improve quality, and reduce costs.
• Governance: Implement robust financial controls and procedures to prevent fraud and ensure accurate financial reporting. Ensure transparency in all procurement and contracting activities.
5. Technology & Innovation:
• Technology Transfer: Oversee the transfer of manufacturing technology from VFlowTech’s headquarters or other facilities to the India facility.
• Process Development: Collaborate with VFlowTech’s engineering and R&D teams to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new products and technologies.
• Innovation: Encourage innovation and identify opportunities for improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
• Governance: Ensure that all technology transfer and development activities comply with intellectual property rights and confidentiality agreements.
6. Stakeholder Management:
• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within VFlowTech, including engineering, R&D, procurement, sales, and marketing, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
• External Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
• Governance: Maintain ethical and professional relationships with all stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and government agencies. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
7. Governance:
• Policy Implementation: Implement and enforce VFlowTech’s corporate governance policies and procedures within the manufacturing facility. This includes policies related to ethics, compliance, safety, environmental management, and financial controls.
• Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks to the manufacturing operations, including operational, financial, and compliance risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
• Reporting & Transparency: Provide regular reports to senior management on manufacturing performance, including key metrics, risks, and compliance issues. Ensure transparency in all manufacturing operations.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.
Reporting Metrics:
• Production output and yield
• Product quality and defect rate
• Manufacturing costs
• On-time delivery performance
• Safety record (e.g., incident rate)
• Equipment uptime and utilization
• Inventory levels
• Employee turnover and satisfaction
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related) is required.
• Master’s degree (MBA or M.Tech) in Operations Management, Manufacturing
Minimum Experience:
• 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role managing production operations.
• Strong experience in battery manufacturing, energy storage, or related industries.
• Hands-on experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
