Position Summary:

The Product Development and Quality Control Specialist will provide technical knowledge for soil blending and compost/mulch manufacturing operations. Responsible for the oversight of current methods of compost production, soil blending and mulch manufacturing as it relates to horticulture within the landscape and construction industries.

Position Essential Functions:
• Working in a timely manner, with soil labs for 3rd party certification of blends, for bid and negotiated work environment
• Analyze compost and soil test reports to determine product ability to meet project specifications and make recommendations on mix designs to achieve desired results
• Prepare and deliver professional written soil and compost project submittals for projects sourced by the sales team
• Conduct basic, local, in-house testing to expedite achievement of soil and compost parameter requirements
• Work with sales team to develop product lines already in the marketplace by competitors and proprietary new product development advancement. Support them for product certification
• Monitoring of current stockpiles and analysis
• Attend meetings at various Maryland regulatory agencies, bid conferences and Company sponsored events

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in soil science or related discipline soil/compost industry experience
• Requires proficiency in database applications to prepare and submit regulatory reports
• Ability to manage projects to include coordinating schedules with contractors and plant operations
• Familiarity with equipment used to process soils, compost and green waste management
• Must be able to periodically converse with clients (both external and internal), and laboratories both verbally and in writing to provide lucid explanations describing our soil blends and products
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Valid Drivers License with a clean motor vehicle record

Position Certifications:
• Graduate of USCC compost operations training course preferred but not required
• Certified Compost Operator by the Maryland Department of Agriculture preferred but not required

Travel and Office Location:
• Regional travel may be required between Denali and customer project sites within the region (Maryland, DC, and Virginia)
• This position will be based at the Denali office in Woodbine, MD. There is a potential for remote work, but must be approved in advance
